Abstract A method for n-acylation of aromatic amines using oxalic acid mono-, di-esters described. The amide bond is a part of natural products, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, biomolecules, including ligands and ultraviolet light absorbers. For this reason, amides have significant importance in various fields of chemical science such as organic synthesis, drug discovery, and biochemistry. Herein, we invented a method of solvent-, base-, acid-, and catalyst-free microwave-assisted N-acylation of aromatic amines using oxalic acid esters as the acyl source, resulting in excellent yields in only 10-40 min. The method is effective, green, sustainable, and scalable.
