Abstract Energy is the fundamental need for mankind today. The ever-increasing demand for conventional energy sources like coal, natural gas and crude oil is driving society towards the research and development of alternate energy sources. Keeping in view that the Solar energy is the most abundantly available renewable energy source of all and Environment Friendly, we are developing a solar photovoltaic (PV) based agricultural water pumping system. Moreover, PV is scalable from very small to very large and easy to integrate with existing power converters. The project will have least maintenance at affordable cost. The generation of electrical power from Photovoltaic cell is mainly dependent on solar irradiations at respective times. The Project deals with the Study of existing water pumping system based on solar photovoltaic power and conventional electrical power. PV generator, converter of DC-DC, an induction motor and a centrifugal pump are investigated in this project. Battery is incorporated to make the system more reliable. The proposed power generation system using Solar Voltage Booster has several desirable features such as low cost, compact size and environmental friendly. The complete system is designed and modeled in MATLAB/ SIMULINK and simulated results are presented to demonstrate its satisfactory performance.
