About the “Event”

The Women Development Cell (WDC), VGEC organized an engaging and insightful event titled “Empowering Women: We Can Do It” on 24th September 2026. The session was conducted by Ms. Ruzan Khambhata, Founder of Force Empowerment Foundation, Ahmedabad, with the objective of creating awareness among students about women empowerment, self-respect, personal boundaries, self-defence, gender sensitization and healthy communication in relationships.

Ms. Ruzan Khambhata interacted with the students in an engaging and practical manner. She emphasized the importance of knowing one's rights, respecting oneself and confidently saying “NO” whenever a person feels uncomfortable or unsafe. She explained that saying no is an important aspect of self-respect and that every individual has the right to establish and communicate personal boundaries.

An important part of the session focused on gender sensitization and respectful relationships. The speaker explained the importance of understanding and respecting the feelings, choices and boundaries of others. She also discussed verbal and non-verbal communication in relationships, highlighting how body language, gestures, facial expressions and tone can communicate comfort or discomfort.

The session included an interesting role-play activity involving students, where situations involving a fiancé and fiancée were enacted. Through these practical examples, students were made to understand the importance of consent and personal boundaries, including appropriate limits regarding physical touch, even within close relationships. The role-play helped students understand how to communicate their comfort levels clearly and respectfully.

The expert also discussed the importance of basic self-defence awareness and being confident enough to respond to uncomfortable or potentially unsafe situations. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to participate actively and reflect on real-life situations.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to Ms. Ruzan Khambhata for her valuable guidance and to all the students and members of the Women Development Cell for their active participation. The session provided students with practical insights into self-respect, consent, communication, personal safety and gender sensitivity, contributing meaningfully towards their overall empowerment.
