Chandkheda, Ahmedabad — Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, nature, and society, the Power Electronics Engineering Department of Vishwakarma Government Engineering College (VGEC) successfully celebrated World Ozone Day. 

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 106 participants from the Power Electronics Department joining hands to raise awareness about ecological preservation. 

Event Highlights & Objectives

• Promoting Environmental Awareness: World Ozone Day, officially observed globally on September 16, commemorates the signing of the Montreal Protocol to reduce the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances like CFCs and methyl bromide. 
• Educational Screening: As part of the department's celebrations, participants were invited to watch an educational film titled "Ozzy Ozone" via the official event link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKrPd-8CJBM) to help students and their communities understand how ozone molecules protect the Earth from harmful UV rays and how human actions impact the atmosphere.  
• Interactive Quiz: To further solidify their learning and earn certification, students actively participated in the official MyGov quiz platform dedicated to the occasion (https://quiz.mygov.in/quiz/world-ozone-day-quiz-2026/). 

Leadership and Coordination

The event was spearheaded under the patronage of Dr. I. N. Trivedi, Head of the Power Electronics Engineering Department. Faculty Advisors Nirav Mehta and Ashish Patel, alongside Student Volunteer Nishit Soni, provided guidance and faculty support. 

Through such engaging initiatives, VGEC continues to inspire young engineers to look beyond academics and actively contribute toward a sustainable and ozone-safe future.
