The Mechanical Engineering Department successfully organized an industrial visit to the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar, with the objective of exposing students to advanced research in plasma science and nuclear fusion technology.

The visit commenced with an insightful introductory session highlighting the role of IPR in cutting-edge plasma research and its significant contribution to India’s nuclear fusion program. Students were introduced to key concepts such as the plasma state, fusion energy, and the importance of sustainable and clean energy solutions for the future.

During the visit, students explored various divisions of the institute, gaining hands-on exposure to real-world research environments:

• Plasma Science Division: Understanding the fundamentals, properties, and industrial applications of plasma. 
• Fusion Technology: Learning about nuclear fusion processes and advanced systems like kamaks used for energy generation. 
• Research Laboratories: Demonstration of sophisticated equipment and experimental setups used in plasma research. 

The interaction with scientists and researchers provided valuable insights into ongoing research activities and career opportunities in the field of research and development.

The visit concluded with an engaging expert session focusing on the future scope of fusion energy and India’s growing role in global scientific advancements.
