An Industrial Visit to IGTR Vatva

The Mechanical Engineering Department successfully organized an industrial visit to Indo German Tool Room, Vatva, Ahmedabad, with the aim of providing students with practical exposure to modern manufacturing techniques and tool room operations. The visit was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world industrial practices.

The program commenced with an introductory session highlighting the establishment, objectives, and significant contributions of IGTR to the manufacturing sector. Students gained insights into advanced machining processes, precision tool manufacturing, and industry-standard quality control practices.

Participants were divided into batches and guided through various sections of the institute, where they explored:

  • CNC Machining Section: Demonstrations of CNC turning and milling machines, along with basic programming concepts and precision component manufacturing. 
  • Tool Design & Manufacturing: Exposure to die and mould making processes and the application of CAD/CAM software in tool design. 
  • Quality Control & Inspection: Introduction to measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and CMM machines, along with testing procedures. 

Students observed real-time machining operations and actively interacted with technical experts, enhancing their understanding of industrial workflows and career opportunities in the manufacturing domain.

The visit concluded with an interactive session, where experts shared valuable insights on skill development, industry requirements, and future prospects in manufacturing and automation.
