Brief Description of Event :
The Government of India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports organizes Pre-Republic Day Camps across five zonal divisions of the country. These 10-day camps implement a variety of selection processes to identify the most outstanding volunteers to select for the RD camp in Delhi and also for the SRD camp for different states.
The Pre-RD Camp for 2023-2024 took place at KL University, Vaddeswaram, Andhra Pradesh, from November 1 to November 10, 2023. This edition of the Pre-RD Camp was dedicated to promoting women's empowerment, and thus, only girls NSS volunteers were chosen.
A total of 200 girls NSS volunteers from the Western Zone were selected for the Pre-RD camp from various states and Union Territories within the zone, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Diu & Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli. Among these, 46 volunteers were from Gujarat, Diu & Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli, with Miss Hiral Shah from VGEC Chandkheda being one of the selected volunteers.
Throughout the 10-day camp, the chosen NSS girl volunteers received parade training, participated in intellectual sessions, and presented cultural programs that highlighted the heritage of their respective states. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, oversaw the selection process. The final selection of girl volunteers for the RD Camp in Delhi was carried out by the committee on November 9 and 10.
From the Western Zone, 46 girl volunteers were chosen for the RD Camp in Delhi, while the remaining volunteers were selected for their respective state's RD camp. Among them, Miss Hiral Shah from NSS VGEC Chandkheda was selected for the state's RD camp at Junagadh.
