About the Club:
The purpose of VGEC Book Club is to foster a culture of reading, critical thinking, and intellectual exchange among the students. The Club plays a pivotal role in enhancing the overall educational experience and creating a platform for students to engage in meaningful discussions beyond the regular curriculum. The Club is coordinated by Dr Vaseem Qureshi (Assistant Professor, English, Science and Humanities Department, VGEC).
About the Event (Introduction):
Welcome to SAMVAAD MANCH, an initiative by the VGEC Book Club that brought together passionate readers and curious minds under one roof. This platform was dedicated to open dialogue, thoughtful reflection, and the joy of sharing stories. At SAMVAAD MANCH 1.0, students stepped forward to express their thoughts, emotions, and insights about books that had inspired them, challenged their thinking, or left a lasting impression.
The event witnessed a wide variety of books being discussed—ranging from fiction and non-fiction to poetry, biographies, and self-help. Each participant brought a unique perspective, sharing not just summaries of the books, but the impact they had on their personal growth, mindset, or worldview. Some explored powerful characters and their journeys, while others highlighted thought-provoking themes and life lessons.
More than just a speaking platform, SAMVAAD MANCH became a celebration of the reading culture within the campus. It encouraged students to engage in meaningful conversations, gain confidence in public expression, and most importantly, rediscover the magic of books through each other’s eyes.
Objectives:
To provide students with a platform to express their thoughts, interpretations, and personal reflections on books they had read. The event aimed to promote a culture of reading, encourage literary expression, and foster meaningful dialogue among students. It also sought to enhance participants’ public speaking and communication skills while building a sense of community among readers. Through this initiative, the Book Club aspired to inspire personal growth, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the power of literature to spark conversation and connect individuals.
