The Mechanical engineering students from Vishwakarma Government Engineering College attended a one-day workshop on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning organized by ISHRAE PDEU. The workshop provided valuable practical exposure to the concepts studied in theoretical books and deepened our understanding of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
The workshop began with a detailed observation of various refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and setups. We explored both domestic and industrial systems, along with setups where active research and experiments are currently being conducted. All the systems were demonstrated in running condition, allowing us to understand how the refrigeration cycle works in practice, complementing what we have learned in theory.
Additionally, the workshop introduced us to MATLAB software, which is used for performing theoretical calculations related to refrigeration systems. We learned how to compare the actual refrigeration cycle with the theoretical cycle, gaining insight into system efficiency and practical challenges.
The highlight of the workshop was the hands-on experimentation session. We conducted experiments independently on refrigeration systems under different operating parameters. Through these experiments, we calculated the Coefficient of Performance (COP) of the systems and analyzed how various parameters affect system performance. The practical experience helped us link theoretical knowledge with real-world applications effectively.
Overall, the workshop was a highly informative and enriching experience that enhanced our practical skills and theoretical understanding of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
