Abstract |
SIC DEVICES ARE EMERGING OUT AS BETTER ALTERNATIVES TO SILICON DEVICES. BEING ABLE TO WORK AT HIGH FREQUENCY, HIGH VOLTAGE AND HIGH TEMPERATURE WITH LOWER LOSSES, SIC DEVICES ARE FINDING APPLICATIONS IN ALMOST ALL THE AREAS OF SEMICONDUCTOR ELECTRONICS. THESE DEVICES, WITH FEW LIMITATIONS ARE FAR BETTER THAN SI DEVICES. THE PROPOSED STUDY INTENDS TO PRESENT THE CURRENT DAY SCENARIO OF SIC DEVICES IN THE POWER ELECTRONICS FIELD AND DISCUSS FEW APPLICATIONS WHERE SIC DEVICES ARE OVERTAKING SI DEVICES RAPIDLY AND ITS ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS. THE GATE DRIVING REQUIREMENTS OF SIC MOSFETS ARE ALSO PLANNED TO BE DISCUSSED AND APPROPRIATE DRIVER BOARDS FOR SIC MOSFETS ARE PLANNED TO BE DESIGNED AND DEVELOPED TO DRIVE SIC MOSFET BASED CONVERTERS. FURTHER, HIGH FREQUENCY OPERATION OF POWER CONVERTERS WILL BE EXPLORED IN ORDER TO STUDY THE SIZE REDUCTION OF THE SAME. FINALLY, DC-DC CONVERTER BASED ON SIC DEVICES WILL BE PROPOSED, DESIGNED AND IMPLEMENTED WHICH WILL BE USED TO DEVELOP THE SIC DEVICES-BASED
