Abstract Inverter based welding machine are getting popular due to their small size , fast response, high efficiency & economical in price compared to conventional welding machine. Main blocks for the SMPS of welding Machine are ac input supply, input rectifier, IGBT based inverter, transformer & output rectifier the control circuitry. Now a days many inverter based welding machine uses analog control circuitry to produce gate pulse for inverter to generate appropriate output based on requirements. In this project we use digital microcontroller based approach for new generation welding Machine. Which is capable to generate 4.8kw of output power at 200A of maximum current which is suitable for mid-level arc welding machine. We aimed to archive nearly about 85% of output efficiency and in order to archive that we used advance switching pattern for inverter. as we are using fully digital algorithm for controlling it's easier to operate compared to analog control welding Machine Keywords : welding, IGBT, SMPS for welding machine, inverter welding Machine, DC/DC converter
