Objective of the Webinar:
The objective of the expert lecture was to enhancethe knowledge in the subject of Electrical Engineering Materials. Considering this, electrical Engineering Department of Vishwakarma Government Engineering College Chandkheda, invited Prof Jigar J. Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, S & H Department, Vishwakarma Government College, Chandkheda, Ahmedabad for delivering an expert talk on “Fundamentals of Solar Cells and Functional Materials for Its Fabrication” on 17/03/2024 from 3:15 PM to 5:15 PM. The objective of this event was to give basic knowledge about Need of solar cells as a green energy source, Indian Scenario in the solar cell research, Solar Mission, Parameters and Applications of solar cells.
He started with introduction of solar cells, Basics of semiconductors and Energy problem and need for alternative energy sources. He broadly covered different configurations of solar cells, solar cell best efficiency in India and world, flexible solar cell from polymer materials and actual I-V characteristics of solar cell.
The event ended with thanks giving speech by Prof. Grishma P Pipaliya (Host).
After attending this lecture, participants got insight to various configurations of solar cells , Classification of Solids into Metals, Conductors and Semiconductors, role of different materials in fabrication of solar cells , importance of thin film solar cells , actual I-V characteristics of solar cell and various applications of solar cells with technology. A brief question answer session happened post lecture, where students asked their queries on the discussed topics and the expert gave answers by showing the tables of best efficiency in India and world and I-V characteristics of solar cell. Feedback of participants was positive and they insisted that such programs should be continued for creating an efficient teaching learning process.
