The Computer Engineering Department, in collaboration with VAA, jointly organized an expert talk on "Career Paths For An Engineer" for 3rd-year Computer Engineering & Data Science students on 11th July 2025, at the B207, VGEC Chandkheda. The primary objective of the session was to familiarize students with industry requirements. The talk explored how students can develop a combination of technical skills, practical experience, and professional competencies. Additionally, Problem-solving ability and logical reasoning are critical, especially for roles involving software development or technical analysis. Students should also focus on developing good communication skills, as teamwork and interaction with clients or colleagues are common in IT jobs. Building a strong resume and maintaining a professional LinkedIn profile can help in networking and attracting recruiters. In addition, The importance of coding practice through platforms like LeetCode and HackerRank was emphasized, along with building real-world projects using GitHub, Replit, and Firebase. Learning resources like Coursera, YouTube, and GeeksforGeeks were recommended. The session also highlighted the value of a strong LinkedIn profile and internship platforms like Internshala and AngelList. Overall, the session aimed to motivate students to start early and build practical skills for a successful IT career.
