National Level One-Day Workshop on Embedded Code Generation for Engineers using MATLAB

21 August, 2021

Overview:

The IEEE Student Branch of Vishwakarma Government Engineering College (VGEC), Chandkheda, successfully organized a National Level One-Day Workshop on "Embedded Code Generation for Engineers using MATLAB" on 21st August 2021. The event was conducted virtually through Microsoft Teams and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members across various institutes in India.

Objective:

The primary aim of the workshop was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of embedded code generation using MATLAB, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in embedded systems.

Workshop Highlights:

  • The session commenced at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome address and an introduction to the IEEE VGEC Student Branch.
  • The expert speaker Prof. D J Vaghela, Assistant Professor, VGEC delivered an insightful session on various aspects of MATLAB, with a special focus on Simulink, Embedded Coder, and code generation techniques.
  • Participants gained hands-on experience with:
    • MATLAB toolchains for embedded development.
    • Model-Based Design using Simulink.
    • Generating and deploying C code for microcontroller-based systems.
  • A live Q&A session allowed students to interact directly with the speaker and resolve their queries.

Participation:

  • The event received registrations from over 75 students from electrical engineering, VGEC.
  • Active engagement and positive feedback from participants highlighted the success and usefulness of the session.

Acknowledgement:

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our expert speaker, all participants, and faculty coordinators for their constant support and encouragement. Special thanks to the organizing team and volunteers of IEEE VGEC Student Branch for their dedication and seamless execution of the event.

Conclusion:

The workshop was a great success, fulfilling its goal of enriching students’ knowledge of embedded systems and MATLAB tools. It not only enhanced their technical skills but also inspired them to explore real-time applications in embedded engineering.
